We’re thrilled to introduce Andrew La Rocca, the newest addition to the Alchemy Construct team! With a strong foundation in values that align perfectly with ours, Andrew is set to lead us into an exciting new chapter.

From a commitment to building with purpose to a “fire in the belly” drive, Andrew brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for creating buildings that truly matter. Here, he shares his vision for the future of Alchemy, what fuels his work, and a glimpse into his life outside of construction.

Find out more about our Alchemy Managing Director, Andrew, below!

Andrew, this is such an exciting appointment for Alchemy! What attracted you to the business?

Alchemy is such a great business, founded on core principles of being human centric and delivering buildings of impact – both of which resonate with me and reflect my own personal values and the way I like to work. It was a no-brainer that Alchemy was going to be a very strong fit for me.

What are your plans for the business? What are you looking to achieve in the new role? And what excites you about the opportunity?

The business is in a really great place, being established in advantageous sectors, with some recent key big wins on the board and an amazing list of repeat clients.

In the short-term I’d love to see the business grow within its current sector remit and geographies, lifting the bar on project value, whilst ensuring that we stay true to the way our clients expect us to deliver.

In the future, the sky is the limit for Alchemy. We will explore opportunities to diversify into complementary sectors and to other key locations around the country.

I’m truly excited by the potential for the business to grow which will open up opportunities to more broadly assist our clients and provide our people with unlimited growth potential.

You’ve had a phenomenal career in construction – what fuels you? What do you love about the industry?

I love that construction is a such a people orientated industry and that we get an opportunity to leave a permanent mark on the skyline and society through what we delivery together.

I’m genuinely fuelled by the opportunity to work with good people to deliver projects of significance that will all, in some unique way, impact someone’s life for the better.

“I’m genuinely fuelled by the opportunity to work with good people to deliver projects of significance that will all in some unique way impact someone’s life for the better.”

Alchemy has achieved great things – a strong culture and strong focus on exceptional customer service has delivered staggering results. How will you bring your Tier 1 expertise to further expand the Alchemy disruptive spirit?

Let’s be frank, there are some great things and some not-so-great things about the way the Tier 1 construction market operates. Having broad exposure across the industry, I plan on bringing the best parts of what I’ve seen and only those things that really add value to the way we work.

I hope that my presence within the business and access to my Tier 1 network will inherently raise the profile of Alchemy to the next level, where we can disrupt a new cohort of competitors.

Speaking of disruption – ‘fire in the belly’ is a key value of the business. What does ‘fire in the belly’ mean for you? How do you motivate people to go that extra mile?

The essence of ‘fire in the belly’ for me is that drive to get up every morning and attack what you do with an ongoing desire to always be improving, growing and seeking new challenges.

Ambitious, Astute & Empathetic

What was it that made you think about this as the right choice for your next move?
Funnily, it was a Podcast that I was listening to at the time with Jimmy Carr that sealed the deal in my mind. He was discussing how we have been taught to work hard for things that are worthwhile, but that over time, we have confused ‘worthwhile’ with things that are just high-value or sought after – like material possessions and things we perceive as status raising.

I reflected and realised that this opportunity with Alchemy truly was worthwhile and I wanted to take my years of experience to an organisation doing great work of real high-value, providing me an opportunity to grow personally, leave a mark on the industry and hopefully improve the lives of those who work for us, as well as those who benefit from the amazingly important social impact projects they deliver.
