Melton Central Community Centre

An inter-cultural learning hub promoting cohesion, learning and employment for Melton’s diverse community.

The MCCC project involved the construction of a two-storey building with a concrete ground-floor and structural steel frame. The redevelopment included eight multipurpose, audio visual-equipped spaces, kitchen and toilet amenities, six interview rooms, two meeting rooms, a foyer, a lounge space, a parenting room, a storage room, an interfaith room, as well as a lift, which was installed to connect the two floors. The scope also involved some significant civil and landscape works.

The Alchemy team took special care in managing noisy works to avoid disturbing the Medical Centre and Childcare facilities adjacent to the site.

Dandenong South Primary School

Library upgrade breathes new life into Dandenong South Primary School.

Our team had the pleasure of completing works to the Dandenong South Primary School library. Works included construction of a new entry, stairs and ramp to address Accessibility Code compliance and improved the overall access and circulation to the busy library operations.

The internal construction and refurbishment involved new wall and ceiling linings, formalisation of general learning areas, new meeting rooms with acoustic treatments, and a “messy activity” area with resilient flooring and wall treatments for ease of cleaning and maintenance. The entry has a new and lush vertical garden green wall that the children can tend to – it provides inherent benefits to the internal air environment and an overall sense of wellness.

Works were completed externally as well and entailed an outdoor learning facility by extending the deck area, providing a flexible break-out space with shade sails for the protection of outdoor gatherings.

A nearby pavilion was also added to the scope to complimented the School’s outdoor play and learning spaces.

Merri Creek Primary School

New places to learn, rest and play at MCPS.

The learning can’t stop just because a school needs to grow. So when we re-landscaped Merri Creek Primary School and built new performances spaces, outdoor areas, and classrooms, we were careful to schedule all construction and deliveries in a that way didn’t disrupt lessons, playtimes or school activities.

The initial demolition involved removing the old artificial turf, bike and storage sheds, garden beds and established trees. We then embarked on constructing a new multi-level school building featuring modern classrooms, acoustically designed music practice spaces, adjacent outdoor learning areas and a rooftop terrace learning space. We maximised outdoor play zones, laid down a new artificial sports field, and planted fresh gardens. Meanwhile, we completed significant in-ground service works to ensure the school’s infrastructure would continue to operate at its best well into the future.
