The team initially discovered buried asbestos during slab excavation works, extensive concrete cancer on existing columns and sewer connection points not located per as-built documentation, however, these latent conditions were overcome in the most expeditious and cost-effective manner that kept the project on track to the original completion date. Indeed, with excellent resource management and programme initiatives the team completed the works 5 weeks early.

The Banyule Flats Reserve is heavily utilised by sporting teams, so all works were managed to ensure cricket and soccer teams had ongoing safe use of their grounds, as well as the general public’s recreational and leisure activities. The site team also liaised cooperatively with Council’s civil contractor undertaking concurrent adjacent car park and road works.
